Snack Your Way to Good Health

Instead of starving yourself until lunch, researchers for the Economic Research Service (ERS) branch of the USDA suggest that snacking can actually guide a healthy weight loss plan by staving off hunger pangs. The ERS researchers suggest that simply "replacing one energy-dense snack per day with a fruit or vegetable could reduce caloric intake and decrease the prevalence of overweight and obesity." Don't stop at whole fruits and raw vegetables! Create a snack of your own by combining your favorite fresh, water-filled treats for an interesting spin on weight loss or weight maintenance.
